There are studies out there(I cant find them back, but I know they are out there) that claim feeding cows more than they will eat in an 8 hour period will increase waste. Once they are full and lay down they really dont need any more to eat for the day. This is why tmr feeding works so well. However, that everyday feeding doesnt fit every schedule, and I think sometimes the lower input ways can stand a little more waste just because of the machinery cost. But as hay prices rise, it takes less waste to justify machinery.
