Saskatchewan, big whitetail country!!! | My dad died in 1989. /before he died, he had baled some straw, and there was a row of about 7 of them at the edge of the field. 6 of them rotted away, basically to nothing. The seventh, last year, I decided to open up and have a look. The core was absolutely golden yellow like it had been baled yesterday! I was surprised. I do not know why this one lasted, and how it lasted so well for 23 years sitting on the ground with no tarp. A lot of guys feed two and three old bales around here, and find the same thing, especially when stacked. The outside foot gets iffy, but the core remains for a long time, provided it sheds water. Interesting. |
