Sat you are right that it is important to be careful WHO is providing the information and what they want you to hear. No need to get excited to the upside or downside at the moment because there is a lot of uncertainty in the market, based on the size of the crop projected in SA it is just as uncertain as June was for North America. We know that you need to price into the uncertainty but do not get caught taking the crop for granted....you can be right about price in the end but give it time.

For perspective here is a couple articles from JUNE 20, 2012 that I did not pay attention to either.....

"Crop consultant Dr. Michael Cordonnier has lowered his US corn yield forecast by 2 bu./acre to 159 bu/acre due to ongoing dryness across the bulk of the Corn Belt. He says while some areas have seen improvements, moisture needs are increasing and rains have been inadequate."

"Corn and soybean markets face “upside price risks” as hot weather in the US may reduce yields, Societe Generale SA said. Corn may average $6.26 a bushel in 2012 if yields in the US average 161.4 bu an acre, the bank said yesterday. Soybeans may average $14.02 a bushel if yields are 43.4 bu an acre."
