Subject: RE: Plowing With GPS

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
I used it last year with our 8310 with autopilot. This year I borrowed a friend's Challenger track tractor. The track tractor had a Trimble 750 with autopilot in it while it was being demoed.

Later he bought the tractor and the 750 and autopilot was removed. He had a Versa with Geosteer installed.

I plowed with all three combinations above pulling a Deere 3710 on land plow. It was helpful but there was some nudging involved.

It is very common in our heavy soils to have the plow go wide in the tough spots and pull straight in the better spots. We set the systems up on the smallest swath that was possible and set an AB line.

We would pull back in and drive manually to get started on the next pass and engage when we were straight. The system would lock on to the closest line to that location. Sometimes that was fine and other times some nudging was necessary.

This worked reasonably well but was certainly not as nice as a sitation with a different tillage tool.
