perryton, tx | Not sure where you are in the panhandle- were you familiar with High Plains Oilseed at Etter? In 2008 myself and several of my neighbors signed high dollar contracts to grow oil sunflowers for them. Literally a few weeks before harvest the market crashed and the people running it closed the doors and disappeared. We ended up with a bumper crop that we had to sell for half the price we had the contracts for. With the ongoing drought I'm interested in the sunflower deal too but feeling gun shy after what happened before. | |
