The devices are hard wired to the network and powered vie Power Over Ethernet so you do not have to have an electrical outlet at your mounting location, just an Ethernet drop. They include a POE injector for this purpose. I was fortunate to have just built my home and wired it better than most offices so I had access to an ethernet drop very close to my external mounting location.
