Nc Ks. | Back in the 70's it became popular here for awhile to put anhydrous on with our field cultivators. The older field cultivators had the shanks closer together, 20" I think, so we just put the knives on the back row. Then the equipment manufacturers started widening the shank spacing to increase trash clearance and we were told that 30" was too wide between knives and we had stagger the knives on the field cultivator to maintain the 20"spacing. If you anhydrous at 30" at an angle to planting, will that be even coverage of the n or were they wrong telling us back then that over 20" was too wide. Also, the corn guys around here that plant on top of the anhydrous mark either put it on in the fall or very early in the spring. Otherwise they say you get burn. | |
