I am probably in over my head here, still trying to get everything to work on Windows 8. I am not able to install my APEX original disc - a message comes up SQL server not compatible with this version of windows - these are apparently SQL files on the APEX disc. I see from a search that some NAT ers are running Apex on 8, how did you work around the SQL files issue.
