Definitely agree with you all about starting small, and getting my feet wet. That's one advantage to the cattle deal is I can grow it over time. Our winters(generally) aren't too bad. I haven't looked at what these buildings cost, but I know a few farmers who feed quite a few calves in this area and they don't have roofs over them.

The big thing I'm not sure on with feeding cattle is how to market them? It makes sense to me that I could go to the local auction and piece together a group of cattle, and then resell later to the big feedlots out west, but is that feasible? Do you just call up feedyards, and say hey I've got a load of 8 weights, you want them? If it's that easy then great.
