The Pioneer guys had small 5 gal propane tanks and plastic boom guns on our seed milo this year. Seemed like 2-3 per field. They go off every 5 minutes or maybe 10. I think the propane lasted a long time. They are loud. Will scare you to death if riding by on four wheeler.


We did a few test plots of milo around our area this year. One of the growers had an air cannon set up at his sweet corn patch. Worked wonders for bird control. Not to expensive either. Does take a little getting use to.

We didnt notice much bird damage on the red. We did see some on the white. White or cream was grown on 2 farms that did not have the cannons.

One grower went out and desicatted his cream milo as he was worried more about the deer than the birds. He said he had minimal damage.
