Subject: 595R and Chopping Corn Head

SC MN
This fall I had all sorts of troubles running my lexion chopping corn head. I went through 3 sets of belts that run down to drive the head. Is anyone else having this problem. I only push the combine 4.5 mph, all the Tech support guys say that I should be able to run at least 5.0mph. Only in one variety of corn could I push the machine and I was running 5.8 mph. By the end of the season I had put a new drive clutch in, New tensioners, Newdriven pully down on the feeder house and had went through 3 sets of triple belts in only 1800 acres, the combine only has 800 sep hrs on it now. If i am only going to be able to push a 12 row chopper 4.5 mph, would I be better going to a 585 or 575??? Just tryin to see if others are having the same issues, and seeing the higher maintence costs. We love our yellow chopping corn head, I have run it against all others and this one works the best in our situation, but we are tired of sticking 5-6k a year into the driveline on the combine!
