Subject: Re: advice from notillers

Jackson County, AL
We would probably plant like it is, at least the first year. We pretty much don't level stuff like that unless its too rough to run a flex head over. Slow down when planting to do a good job. The plants don't seem to care as long as the seed to soil contact is good. Our best corn was on some old pasture we took in last year and really is unlevel in places. Got a great stand and have no doubt we would have lost yield had we worked in deep enough to level it. We always feel we gain more by no-tilling than we might lose due to sprayer ruts, small potholes, cow trails, etc.
