NE Iowa | One logger in our area works on shares. I was looking to cut 14 acres a year ago. It was 80% white oak and he wanted 35% of the log value for doing the cutting, skidding, and getting the bids from log buyers. He said that on jobs with a lot of Walnut his percentage goes down to 20% or below. In fact he had just done a job that was all Walnut and some were veneer quality for only 10%. | |
