| Some the fall applied anhydrous will be gone by spring. I last applied 32% with the planter off the row a couple inches, then then side dressed when the corn was about 4' tall. I dribbled the side dressing on because my new coulter based side dresser broke on the first time across the field. I did about 11 pounds with MAP spread, then 60 pounds of N with the planter and 40 pounds of N side dressed. Did 173.2 bushel corn in 2007. I did a late summer stalk tissue test and it indicated the corn would have probably responded to a bit more N. I had high organic matter so may have grabbed some N from that. I also chose my hybrid for its productivity with low nutrition. A Crows number that no longer is sold as far as I can tell. What side dressing will do is get more of the N to the corn so you don't need to apply as much. You need to fine tune the amounts with yield and late season stalk N tests.
