You can get by fine with a smaller 700-800 bu cart. You don't HAVE to have a whole semi load on the cart. We use a 780 brent and have 2 semis now. If there is only 1 truck driver 1 semi is sitting in the field anyway. 2 large combine dumps and it is full. You will want to have the capacity to unload on the go so take your combine hopper plus X% to handle the bushels coming in and not fill every corner of the cart. If you have multiple trucks each with a driver then it is nice to have a load ready so they can get back on the road. At the same time 1000 bu. rolling around the field doesn't do your soils a lot of good either, of course some will say tracks etc. which costs $$$$. There are several outfits around here filling semis with 650-800 bu carts.
