Wallis, TX | Here in TX they normally won't let you take a PP with it too dry. They make you plant the crop and then you have like 15 days (may be a little longer) after the plant date to catch a rain and get the crop up. If its not up then you get full insurance, if you get a rain and it comes up, then you got to start spending money on it and farm it in a normal manner (fertilizer, weed control etc), no matter how dry it is. The only exception I've seen to this is where the irrigation district didn't have water and RMA let the rice farmers take PP last year. | |
