Then come back next fall, if you have recouped from the summer work, and we will show you how hard harvest is on 1800 acres of beets. The 16-18 hour days make most folks run the other way. Farm 30 circles, irrigation cost last year was close to 150 per acre.
As far as the gov't handing out money, lets start with all the other industries that are not farm related that get subsidies, ie, airlines, oil companies, forest service etc., then we will talk. The beet program cost to the tax payer is ZERO. The fed. crop ins. that is available for beets is a joke. Most beet farmers I know would not take it except that the banks make them.
