Guymon, OK | The best I've ever harvested was 84G62 that made 155, and the 8-10ac in the middle of the field had some drought stress was starting to lodge. I think I planted it at 80K.
It seems like we grew better milo on furrow irrigation. My granddad was a Funk's dealer back in the day, and in 1976 he was the Oklahoma Irrigated division winner of Project 10,000, with a yield of 9,239lbs (165bu), planting Funk's G-622G3R. I remember in the late '80s or early '90s riding on the 1480 with Dad while he cut a NC+ test plot; there was a white hybrid there that did better than 170. We just haven't been able to match those yields under pivots. Of course, our weather is a little different now than it was then. | |
