The most common way of getting food poisoning with a pumpkin pie would be to mix up the ingredients and contaminate them either from the eggs or from handling the turkey.
Then leave them mixed up on the counter waiting their turn in the oven which is often quite busy at Thanksgiving. Wait until a good bacterial culture has gotten going then kill them in the oven.
The resulting food poisoning isn't that dangerous because it's just temporary until you've gotten rid of the cell walls of the dead bacteria, but it certainly is no fun. | |
