| Have you asked at your college what kind of software you'll be expected to run on it?
What software will you be running at the farm?
That should eliminate the choice between Windows and Mac laptops.
If it's Windows, check Dell, Asus, or Acer. Toshibas used to be very reliable too, I don't know what recent models they have.
I'd suggest a laptop with a SSD drive instead of a hard drive (no mechanical component, so less risk of failure in the farm, and it's lightning fast too) but it's probably outside your budget. You'll need an external hard drive too for backups, or some storage quota on the farm computer's hard disk. | |
