Compaction is just gonna happen with 1300 bushel grain carts and combines that hold 450 bushels. Just finished ripping 4 circles 13" deep. Our ground is so dry that I am sure that it fractured between the rows pretty well. Stop in the middle of the field from time to time and dig. If you are pulling a ripper shank through wetter ground, you may be making it worse. It would be interesting to see a yield map overlaid with a map of the tractor power it takes to pull a ripper. That compaction might be a very telling tale.
