WY, OK | I'd definitely want it cold before started, if I show up and the block is warm on a 20 degree day it probably has starting issues and was warmed up a few hours early to make sure it would start. Same thing when you go to an auction and the tractor is already running 1hr before the auction starts. Washing can work both ways, it may be easier to see exactly where any leak is after a good wash, it will be easier to see there is a leak in general before it is washed. I always like to see if things like the dipsticks have 3 years worth of grease on them and were obviously never pulled out. Also things left in the cab can be a huge giveaway, maybe a qt of oil or ether or a jug of brake fluid all mean there is a leak or starting issues/engine is ethered to death. | |
