I have always said I learn in dry years and you are doing right with the hay. Cows are like kids and they learn to clean up as needed. If you keep bringing more they just gradually waste more each time. The longer you make them clean up the more efficient they will get at it. On the tubs I agree above and most are too high to feed. The ones I feed now pay and fill a small void I have. A tub will last me on a 40 head bunch a month or more and some will say well they are not getting enough to matter but they are not having to get all of their requirements from the tub so it pays for me.
