Subject: Radish and rye

I have heard a lot of good about radish and rye mixes for soil improvement, and was going to try some earlier this fall but then I read that radishes can plug plastic tilling with their roots. How concerned should I be about this? I am thinking about mounting some kind of seeding devise on my combine when I combine soybeans around the 25of sept in northern Illinois is that early enough to get any benefit from the radishes?
