Beginning to wonder if the Knoll thing somehow stuck New Energy in South Bend and is part to blame for the closure. I know they used to come in and pick up ethanol quite a bit.

Knoll sold Methanol,, Ethanol would be a great racing fuel but it has to be denatured like with gasoline.. most Torco fuels were gasoline based.. Knoll fraudulently got just over 80 Million dollars in Federal Highway refund money for Federal highway fuel taxes because you don't have to pay highway fuel taxes on racing fuel.

Then with fraudulent income claims he got a 15 million dollar loan from Chemical Bank. The IRS raided his office in 2008, he just got sentenced to 14 years in Prison in Nov 2012.

I heard the alcohol plant in SB was out dated and had been loosing money for a while...

Knoll was just like Stamp .. paying all of the bills on time until the Fraud caught up with them.
