Now that SMS will bring in the background maps my idea of "picture framing" is not as necessary as it was way back when. My own personal experience was with some tiling that was done during the time when the YM2000 was current and the mapping software was fairly basic.
As far as finding the lines again, this will depend on the accurcy of the GPS source and the closeness of finding the correct Lat/Lon from the map. When I did this I wrote down the Lat/Lon of some intersections that I thought I might want to find in the future.
