Faunsdale, AL | Yes, any moisture binds with the ammonia instantly. As the ammonia or ammonia and water solution hits the soil, it binds with clay particles almost instantly. If a heavy rain, that field would have a heavy dose of N!
Excess flow preventer didn't click off. Ours tend to click off when you don't want them to!
Had a tank tongue come off the tank when a kingpin failed and snatched the valve apart. Excess flow preventer clicked in and stopped the bulk flow, only a pinhole that is drilled to allow the pressure to equalize across the disk when you shut off the valve. It only had a few hundred pounds in it thankfully, there was nothing to be done with it, no valve to close. I could walk up to it and touch the remains of the valve without a mask and never smell the ammonia. It drifted downhill into some woods. Was really inconveninet, had just enough on hand to finish the crop and had to go round up a few acres worth of dry!
That situation in the video is the same, no chance of doing anything about that one! Just call it in and warn everyone down wind.
