Pennsylvania | My farm is surrounded by woods on all sides, basically a food oasis for the deer. The deer damage to the beans and corn has been extensive. The first two to three rows of corn in every field are gone or the ears have been chewed down to little stubbins. The beans are in worst shape, chewed down six or seven rows in. I let a lot of people hunt this year, so far 7 deer shot with bows or crossbows but some of my farmer neighbors are big time deer hunters and protect the doe.
I have no solution except to continue to let folks hunt the entire deer season and have them kill as many doe as possible. | |
