Subject: Re: Corn Growers in the South

Northeast Louisiana
I have a neighbor that has land only will produce 165 bu corn each year, no more than that. Now, across the ditch, same neighbor will make 200 on same farm. He has done everything under the sun. I told him back in the old days (early early 1900's that field was in pasture. He did not know it. But soil test are pretty much the same as others. But it just has a yield cap. It will make 50 plus soybeans and very good wheat. I know some other land same way, makes good other crops but has a cap on corn. Still as mystery somehow. As far as others yields, don't let that factor your farm, I know alot of people over state their yields. Main thing I look at is my yields pays my bills. For example, I harvested a guys soybeans this year, I knew the total bushels and total acres, I kept a tally, but never told anyone what his numbers were. Well at the coffee shop, I was SHOCKED was he said his yields were. He added over 30 bu/ acre to his yields! I still never said a word.
