| I always get a yield response from fertilizer in beans here. Even with high test soils. Note there should be added emphasis on here. No- till is good if the ground is smooth but if you have mounds and rough areas you might want to smooth it up. When I broke my crp out I was allowed to disc it the summer before 3 or 4 times with a light disc. Then the grass came back in the fall and I hit it with roundup about a week before frost.
I got to maintain my grass sod pretty much and had a good seed bed also. Note, I always put fertilizer on my crp as it needed all the help it could get. It wouldn't grow weeds without it.
