South cental Ohio | Like the last post'er, I like turnips too. Some people used to have to eat turnips because they were a "poor peoples" food- easy to raise and cheap. You can keep turnips like potatoes. They will take a pretty hard freeze before they start to go bad. My dad used to raise turnips and feed them to his chickens in the winter. He said that if you never let a chicken step in the snow and feed it turnips during the winter- it would keep laying eggs. I don't know if there is any truth to that but we never ran out of eggs lol !!! | |
