Mid Michigan | I did the same thing on part of our land. I planted about 12 lbs of purple top turnips and Daikon radishes for the wildlife and I have them by the tens of thousands. Some of the purple turnips planted in august are 6 inches in diameter. Some of them got planted by my deer shack right in the soybean field and there have been a lot of deer ripping them out. They really stink too. I don't think it would matter if you showered for a week. I don't think the deer would smell you over the turnip smell. I was also wondering about a good way to keep them or maybe eat them. The deer pull them out and put the whole turnip in their mouth with the greens sticking out and chew up the turnip until the greens fall on the ground. I've watched them eat a lot of them. No big bucks so far. A couple of little three and four points I've passed up on so far and a bunch of does and fawns. | |
