yes for uplift it will work. with the angle cut, snow load would buckle it quite easily. Don't know how much load you will get where your located but here around the great lakes in the snow belt (12 foot annually). We would have to do it different.here. we would have cut the notch to fit and bent it to the angle of the stud bolted both ways. Also think crimping it over and then drilling a double thickness would suffice.no cuts.
  Still looks like it will do the job. nice building
