Subject: Re: U of Illinois Farmland for Sale

South Eastern ,ILL
My father and I farmed a U of I farm ,for over 40 years combined total, actually years ago it was just set-a -side
land when my dad first farmed it. Fifteen years ago when land broke the 2000$ level, they decided
to break the will ,and sell the farm(land was given to them not to be sold). At the time it was a big
purchase for me, but I ended up giving them what they wanted on a public bid type sale. My lawyer
stated after this was all done, it was the worst, non professional, handling of a sale he had ever
been involved in. I would have to express the same feelings. My point is if some one or family leaves
land to a college , charity , or other entente and specifically states not to sell it, their wishes should
be respected. In my case it worked out great for me, but I still believe they should abide by the
Donating persons wishes.
