Red combines do a pretty nice job...........when they are not broke down. In my neighborhood it is not uncommon to see multiple machines idle in the field or shop being repaired. I would say talk to as many people as you can with a 1480-2388 and hope they answer you honestly. Also apply all profits towards repairs. 2-15k repairs frequent.

LOL

My neighbors MUST DO MAINTENENCE in the off season. I can't think of any of my neighbors with any color of combine that is wrenching on it much in season, and that includes a couple of White combines even.

When I ran my 1460 I would stick about $2-3k per year in it for parts in the off season. My 1460 had just under 6500 hours on it when I sold it and I ran about 800 acres a year through it. The only repair I had to do to my 2188 this fall was one of my duals had a crack in it and I had to weld it back up, other than that it did the same 800 acres without any problems, this machine has 4200 engine hours on it.

I've ran a 9500 and they are a nice to run combine but I'll keep my red one.

PS my first combine was a JD and that cured me of green ones.
