First of all, I think you may be using the wrong description. 'Hay dogs' are spring-loaded in the top of the bale case ahead of the knotters. I think what you want are called 'restrictors'- in the sides of the bale case. In addition, there are some dimpled restrictors that can be added and which do wear out. They are shown in PC along with the plungerhead guides.

I assume by 'right-hand' you mean on the right-hand side of the baler- the pickup side? More common to have difficulty with the left side. Maybe your feeder forks are pulling the crop too far into the bale chamber?

If you are running in very light windrows or dry, fluffy hay, you may have difficulty feeding enough crop in to make a good bale. What are you trying to bale?
