If you really believe that spending cuts are not the answer, plz challenge me on a couple of assertions:

1. Privitize the postal service. It is trully rediculous that one can be a delivery boy for approximately 20 years and have a guaranteed pension for life that is likely higher than most private jobs will ever accrue. All this talk about raising postal rates, ending Sat. delivery, blaa, blaa, blaa, translate to one thing. Easier work considitions for postal workes and more benefits with less postal service for the customers. If you really want to get serious about making the delivery system work better, privatize it and you see the results.

2. Most governmental workers have the similar benefit packages to the postal workers. If you commence working for them in you mid-40's, you can retire on them in your early to mid 60's at the latest. Full benefits. This includes social workers, bureaucrats, bank examiners, doctors, basically the whole lot of them. Why cannot we simply make their benefits packages the same as the private sector?

There is so much pork in government spending and it is only getting worse. Yes - we have a definate spending problem.

Moreover, it has been proven many times over that there is point where raising taxes will actually lower tax revenues. My sense is that if Washington and company want to go down the route and raise taxes.... bet on big government rather than growing the private sector, we are already past the point of diminished returns and actual tax revenues will go down.

The government does not get rid of excesses, it feeds thems.
