Subject: RE: Moving a gooseneck cattle trailer with the tractor

West Salem, Illinois
Years ago Grandpa welded a 2 15/16" ball to a plate than had two ears with holes and another round piece welded in. The ears slid over the top hook portion of the quick hitch the round stock fit into the hook the holes were just below thetop hook he put a pin thru so that the rig couldn't be pulled off. The top plate that had the ball welded to it was large enough that it also set on the top of the quick hitch for more weight bearing than just thru the quick hitch's top hook. We used it pretty regularly with the JD 4020 and could get the trailer into about any where you needed to go. One of the added benefits was the trailer set pretty well level when the 3 point was almost completley down, so when we had to load hogs or calves in the trailer we would raise the 3 point and that made the trailer go down in the back so that there wasn't as big of step for the animals to get inot the trailer.
