There may be 15" of silt loam topsoil on top of clay "here" and many places much less soil. Been notill since 98 or 99. Runoff is way less than it used to be before notill. A pond would fill after a rain doesn't get much water in it now. I figured the residue dissipates the rain energy and more root cavities/worm holes for the rain to go into the ground. About the 3rd year, the notill really helped a lot with the runoff.

Still have a couple spots that need better waterways and those do get gullies, but can't blame that on the tillage or lack of, more to do with not shutting off the sprayer boom at the right time. Waterways don't seem to be r/up ready....grin.
