Tenn Valley | Nitrogen needs to be split for sure - most of the N is used after wheat joints. Potash, phosphate & sulfur are needed by a growing wheat crop. Ammonium sulfate is a choice to be used if you're a dry fertilizer farmer.
In the Tenn Valley, we'll apply dry 50# ammn sulfate, 100 # DAP, 100-150 # of potash. Stand and plant population - about 18 plants per foot in drilled wheat, 40-45 plants per sq ft if broadcast. With $8 plus June wheat prices, good wheat & good management / fertility will put money in the bank. | |
