NC Indiana
Last yr we threw a mix of stuff out after wheat - forage oat, forage pea, crimson clover, radish, turnip, millet, sunflower, sorghum, sorghum-sudan, old seed corn, etc - seeded mid to late July. Ended up taking a cutting of hay 35-40 days after seeding and the radish/turnip/clover/volunteer wheat came on from there for fall/winter grazing. Kale in a mix has done well for other guys as well. Could just keep back some of your wheat and mix in radish/turnip/kale/legume if you'd prefer.
