I don't know the story behind Hostess, but problem is the first place most management looks at to cut costs is wages and benefits. Easiest for them to do. Thing is, this country can't survive on all its workers making Wal-mart wages.


No we can't. But that up to the individual to decide he can't make a living at that wage and to do something about it. This is American and it's a free country. You can go to college and get an education, improve your skills or gain knowledge from study and apprenticeship. You have the ability as an individual to improve your lot on life. We have just fallen into the rut of giving somebody part of our paycheck so we can enjoy the luxury of getting 30 bucks an hour to put a wing nut on a bolt.

Collective bargaining is socialism on a smaller scale.


Gumby, you are right, a person can do those things. But there are only so many white collar jobs out there. This country also needs good paying manufacturing type jobs to keep this economy going. We need to make products here...in this country. Its fast becoming a service related economy of low paying jobs.
