Subject: My latest brainstorm--what do you think?

Blooming where I am planted!

Seems one can never have enough roof around here.  I was thinking it would be good to have another area for chickens (we don't have a lot) but as you know, small flocks can benefit from having areas that are separate from each other (new chicks, quarantine, etc.).

We have an old concrete stave silo, no top.  I was thinking it would make a nice coop.  Not sure how to do that.  Door is about 3' off the ground and only 18" wide.  It would need to be lowered and widened, I think.  Then there's the issue of putting some kind of roof on it, whether it's all the way at the top, or a roof retrofitted inside to about 8' or 10' tall.  All for a small budget.  Ventilation is key too.

We have several unused metal grain bins that can be taken apart and used for parts to retrofit the concrete silo.

Have any of you done this, or can speculate on how to do it?  TIA.
