Subject: Re: Front wheel cracks?

Central Kansas
Just got off the phone with CFI and a core exchange can not be accepted with cracks, salesman said that welding cracks has not be successful. There main point is installing new rubber or poly on the surface,..............so he priced wheels to me (rubber) for $750 or poly for $165 more. He said that if I felt comfortable with my welding the wheels, they would gladly put new rubber or poly on them as they only guarantee the rubber or poly. Its my understanding that these reconditioned wheel (never cracked) are used so who knows, they might crack in the first 100 hours of use from stress so I would probably go with "Brand New"JD wheels, have them shipped on a stock order (no freight) and pick them up a few miles from my farm. The fella I talked to is sending me a quote and literature. Didn't ask about mid frame idlers as I've never had a problem with them He did mention about putting 2 new ones together for even wear and track alignment.
