Murfreesboro, Tennessee | Previous responses are really good.
1. If you are no tilling, no till the wheat into the standing stalks, and then cut stalks sometime in the winter.
2. Cutting green stalks is hard and tends to not distribute evenly. make sure they are dry.
3. Run at an angle when disking. We even cut the stalks at an angle. Tends to help keep things from clogging up.
4. Shredders work better than rotary cutters. If running a rotary cutter, they work better if they dont have stump jumpers.
5. Higher you run your cutter, the better distribution (at least this is what we have found on our bush hog brand cutter).
good luck.
