Alton, Ia | Half my corn is COC, half COB. No difference in yields. When I do budgets, I figure about 5% less yield COC since everybody tells me it's there, so I figure one of these years they'll be right.
Harvest preceding crop early. Need residue breakdown and no/low field losses (= vol corn= unkillable weed).
Tillage in fall.
Good hybrid selection, emergence scores, Goss' Wilt, etc.
Proper tillage in spring.
Insecticide in the row, yeah I know, traits...treatments... whatever..... use the heavy artillery....
Watch the fields closely.
