Make sure to apply some sulfur, you need it for the growing corn and for the microbes trying to breakdown last year's residue. I like AMS broadcast near planting time, but that may not work as well for you.

As long as I make sure I have enough nutrients for the corn and the microbes both, I don't see much of a drag for COC vs COB. Depends on your residue management and you need insecticide. Oh, and check your hybrid selection, some numbers are better for COC than others.
