If you spray it now and kill the grass it may soften up in the spring and smooth out a little. If conditions are perfect you may raise a good crop the first year, but I don't usually have much luck that first year. Corn is better than beans for sure. Beans don't seem to have the root strength to get through all the cover of sod.
