I don't know how closely the 2 situations compare but last year I had a freind no-till into an alfalfa orchard grass sod ( it was 6 years old and the O G was thick ) killed the previous fall. He just had disc type row cleaners with plenty of down presure and the seed bed was amazing. Ended up with 196 bu. corn which compared well with the conventional near it. Plant, spray, 28% with a bluejet coulter set-up,combine. I can't imagine what a mess of sod clumps any kind of tillage would have made. Notilled beans between the corn rows this spring, worked great.
