Subject: Looking for help understanding the cattle business

West Central, IL
Here's the deal. I started farming from scratch 3 years ago, but strictly grain farming. We recently bought 25 acres of pasture, I plan on farming 15-20 of it but still undecided what to do. It has fences on 2 sides, I plan on building fence on the other 2 sides this winter. We have another 8 acres of hay ground, and I have some of the equipment to bale it.

I am wanting to possibly get some cattle. I always wanted to just have a feed lot, but $7+ corn seems to make that unrealistic. So what I'm getting at is, is there any money in raising cows to sell calves? I have almost no experience with cattle, so just looking for peoples opinion and advise if now is the time to get in to the cattle business.

Thanks
